ADVANCED COMPOSITION FICTION UNIT
This unit will involve reading, studying, and writing short stories in a three week period. Mini-lessons will be presented on the subjects of writing leads and closing lines, characterization, and plot development. Becoming proficient at using figurative language will be a primary focus. Along with several individual assignments, the class will write a story collectively.

What kind of writing is the most important?

What kind of writing is your best kind?
What is figurative language?
What constitutes a writing style?
What are the elements of a short story?

Module 1 Reflection

This module has made me think about my role as an instructional designer in the following ways:
  • being more aware of how relevant to "real life" my lessons should be
  • taking more time to work out "hands on" lessons
  • learning more about electronic possibilities in the classroom
